Online Therapy Training ResourcesWhile ISMHO neither evaluates nor endorses specific training programs, we certainly support the importance of competence. To help you get started in your search for appropriate training, we are listing a few programs we are aware of, below. We strongly encourage you to expand your training options by performing your own, independent search using any of the popular search engines. - Counselling online ltd.
- UK based online training for counsellors and psychotherapists. They offer a general introductory certificate (8 weeks of 12 hrs/wk); an advanced certificate (additional 12 weeks of 12 hrs/wk); and a diploma program (additional 20 wks of 12 hrs/wk).
- Cybercounselling.com
- Canadian based f2f and online training for counsellors and psychotherapists offered by the School of Social Work, University of Toronto, and provided by cybercounselling.com. They offer a one day f2f introductory workshop held at the School of Social Work at U of T; and two online training certificates which include a Level 1 certificate (12 weeks of 5-7 hrs/wk) and an Advanced Level 2 certificate (an additional 12 weeks of 5-7hrs/wk).
- Learning curve online counselling
- UK based online training for counsellors and psychotherapists. This course usually takes students around 6 - 8 months to complete, based on 4 - 5 hours study time per week. The course includes some practical work (approx. 6 hours), arranged through the free online counselling.
- Online Counseling and Therapy Skills
- US based introductory workshop for counselors and psychotherapists. Offers 3 2hr sessions online.
- Online Therapy Institute
- International online training, modular or full programme available. The Institute offers six introductory modules to working online with clients, available as a set or individually (5 hours each). Additional modules on further topics added regularly. Full facilitated course (60 hours) encompasses video and audio online therapy. CE credits and CPD certificates available for all course options.
- ReadyMinds.com
- US based f2f training for counselors and psychotherapists. They offer training for the Distance Credentialed Counselor (DCC) certificate (2 full days in person). This training is endorsed by the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC) and the Center for Credentialing and Education (CCE) and offers 15 continuing education hours.
